I have never enjoyed Merlot for a number of reasons. Check out this Age Epicure  article for most of them.

But this one just may be the exeption! Deep red crimson hues with a complex bouquet of lifted black cherries and fruitcake characters. It has a sophisticated palate with earthy nuances and very refined velvety tannins on the finish.
