What is the Little Yering, well it’s actually a wine for everyday drinking and comes from one of the Yarra Valley’s most established wineries. Pinot Noir is one of the main grapes that the Yarra does well and lets be honest, Yering are hardly late to this table. This is the perfect BYO option, guaranteed to be a total crowd pleaser. As with most Pinots you’ll find an attractive perfume of cherries and strawberries with a hint of oak. It’s got a soft, persistent palate with a good core of fruit and a long, savoury finish which is going to make this an excellent companion to game birds. It’s basically a duck-seeking missile.
Awards and Accolades
2013 Vintage: 92 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Has abundant colour, and flavour to match, with scads of plum and cherry fruit; it is a little one-dimensional, but I think will gain complexity over the next 2-3 years; even if it doesn't, it's a tidy pinot at the price, so there's no downside in buying a few bottles."
Ralph Kyte Powell, Epicure - The Age: 4/5 Stars Pleasant aromas of cherries and undergrowth introduce a simple, quenching drop that is appetising with sappy with red fruit and spice flavours, medium weight and finely textured and persistent.
From the Winery
A wet winter delayed budburst creating a typical cool climate growing season. Vine balance and an even ripening period delivered grapes with exceptional flavour, structure and fineness. So far, 2017 is the best pinot vintage this decade
