A blend of fruit from two of Victoria's premium Pinot Noir growing regions, the Yarra Valley and the Mornington Peninsula. This Pinot displays bright raspberry and red cherry fruit, with a gentle forest floor complexity and a hint of oak. Approachable and easy going, make sure there are a couple in the cellar at all times.
From the Winery
Pocketwatch Pinot Noir continues the Oatley family tradition of fine craftsmanship. We selected a number of parcels of grapes from the Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley districts of Victoria to produce a delicate red wine with gentle oak influence and bright fruit character. It displays bright red cherry and raspberry fruits, gentle earthy forest floor complexity and only the lightest touch of oak. It is a very approachable wine, soft and easy to drink.
Our Pocketwatch wines pay tribute to my great great grandfather James Oatley (1770-1839). One of Australia’s early convict settlers, James was a master watch and clockmaker who was soon pardoned by Governer Macquarie, appointed Keeper of the Sydney Town Hall Clock and commissioned to install the still functioning turret clock in the pediment of the Hyde Park Barracks. As part of his remuneration he received a number of land grants from Governor Brisbane, including a 300-acre lot that is now the southern Sydney suburb of Oatley.
