***** Double Medal Winner***** A great big vibrant blood red with purple tint. Enticing aroma of Intensely pungent perfume, with dense blackcurrant, ripe fruit perfumes and savoury herbs. Chocolate, coffee and raspberry with hints of earthy tones and toasted cedary oak underlie the complex aromas. The palate as you would expect is a lovely juicy palate up front with solid tannins kicking in rather early with a firm finish. Intense juicy raspberry and blackberry compete with smoky wood flavours. Rate this 91/100

It is so obvious this wine comes from a good year when fruit had a chance to grow to maturity and provide us all with a lesson on how Merlot should be made. Rate 91/100

Geoff Hardy 'Handcrafted' Merlot 2004

The Jaw dropping 2004 Vintage Merlot from the Adelaide Hills Kuitpo Vineyard has a particularly alluring deep red crimson hues with a complex bouquet of lifted mulberry and plum characters. These flow onto the palate which is rich, multilayered and mouthfilling. Underlying earthy nuances and super refined velvety tannins follow through to the finish. Although this wine is drinking superbly at present, if carefully cellared for then next 4-8 years it will develop complex savoury characters that will reward those who wait. In Australia the popularity of varietal Merlot is a relatively recent phenomenon. Often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon to soften the Cabernet's firmer tannins. Merlot in the Adelaide Hills is often low cropping which results in a smooth full bodied wine with great colour. Rate 92/100 Drink whenever possible!

2004 Orange Merlot Blue-Gold Medal: Sydney International Wine Competition 2006 Bronze Medal: Sydney Royal Wine Show 2006 Merit - Asia Wine & Spirits Challenge 2006 Orange is simply a fantastic High altitude, long ripening region with a seasonalty to produce excellent fruit of premium quality. Since rescued from the large Southcorp range, the Kirby family has imporved these wines highlighting the classic varieties from classic regions. All said and done this Merlot has terrific fruit, a generous medium bodied wine with fine soft tannins and a wonderful elegance whihc is what the grape should be all about. 90/100 5 Stars and Classy!

Simply Yummy! Mummy, we'll have a lot of this one! The colour is deep crimson with dark purple hues and immediate aromas are of black cherries and warm spicy oak. Generous and vibrant fruit characters are present on the palate which is balanced with delicious earthy flavours of charry oak and spice with approachable tannins.This medium bodied wine is greatly satisfying and is ready to enjoy now or over the next eight years. It is a terrific match with garlic and rosemary roast lamb or duck breast. Rate 92/100
