Nine Stones Hilltops Shiraz 2004
Len Evans the Guru! Has produced this export wine to showcase regional quality and style.
Definitely a master Shiraz from Quality cool Climate region and displays a wonderful aroma of sweet shiraz even though it is a retrained 14% Alc/Vol and steps away from being just a huge overpowering wine. The fruit is rich and seamless with loads of chocolate, oak , spice and a hint of cocnut. The tannin structure is all you could expect here and use of American Oak compliments the Shiraz fruit perfectly. All together a very neat Shiraz mde under supervision of Len evans as the hall mark Quality regional shiraz for the export market.

d'Arenberg d'Arry's Original 2005
In its youth d'Arry's Original display a bright magenta like brick red colour. This lovely, spicy, plumy red combines the succulent sweet fruit of Grenache and the depth and structure of Shiraz.
A real charmer, with well-judged tannin grip. The nose invariably attacks with lifted spicy cinnamon plum, mulberry & prune aromas. Typically cherry, wild strawberry & lolly-like musk smells also, as well as tighter liquorice, spice, rosemary & fennel smells.
Parker rates this at 91/100 and says..."‘One of my consistent favorites from d’Arenberg is their d’Arry’s Original, and the terrific 2004 is a super value. A dark ruby/purple color is accompanied by beautiful blackberry, cassis, cherry, and licorice scents with hints of Provencal herbs and pepper in the
background. This medium to full-bodied, front endloaded blend of Shiraz and Grenache possesses
considerable fruit, body, and silky tannins as well as enough acidity to provide definition. Drink it over the

DON’T PAY $28.99
A lovely rich soft, drink-now expression of Shiraz sourced from the Barossa floor and the cooler Eden hills, 2004 was an excellent vintage for Barossa Shiraz. The restrained yields of the vintage, in combination with the cooler temperatures at ripening, meant particularly rich flavours. The two cuvees were aged in a mix of American and French oak for 18 months before an intensive blending program. Post fermentation maceration on skins and the oak maturation mellowed the wine to its current delicious state, the final blend being an equal proportion of Eden Valley and Barossa floor Shiraz. d'Arenberg Footbolt Old Vines Shiraz 2005
*****Decanter Magazine Top 50 Best value reds in the world *****

A dark, exciting looking wine with a cherry red hue. Initially dominated by roasted plum and cherry notes. Elements of spice, spearmint and smoke are quite elegant and refined which suggest a cooler year. As the wine opens up, there is strong emphasis on red fruits such as
Satsuma plums, cranberries, mulberry and cherries mixed with characters of carob and a savoury edge similar to cut flower stems. The palate is complex, layered and is very precise with a firm, mineral boundary that suppresses the fruit yet the finish is surprising soft and long and very red in flavour. The balance of the red fragrant fruits and dark berries with the oak seems more noticeable than in previous years. The length and intensity of flavour is a great attribute of this wine; the flavours continue to linger on and on.

Coriole Redstone Shiraz 2004
Redstone is the name chosen for this wine, the classic Australian blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Redstone refers to the ironstone that is so common in the vineyards and buildings of Coriole and McLaren Vale.

This wine is predominantly Shiraz with a small component of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine shows red fruit/raspberry aromatics with a little spiciness from the oak. The wine is quite concentrated yet with a savoury element rather than very sweet fruit. The maturity of the fruit characters reflects the quality of the older vineyards used in this wine.

Coriole Shiraz Estate Grown 2005
**5 Star winery James Halliday**
Shiraz is the great tradition of McLaren Vale, going back to the 1850's. The first Coriole Shiraz was bottled in 1970. This wine is from estate grown shiraz from vines that are 25 or 35 years old.

A vibrant lifted and fragrant aroma of red fruits and chocolate. The palate is primary, or fruit driven, rather than developed in its flavours and is juicy, generous, with velvety tannins.
"Intensity of varietal character without any heaviness or jamminess, fine firm tannins merging beautifully into layers of flavour. The oak enhances rather than dominates. What a beautifully handled McLaren Vale Shiraz this is!" -Winewise

d'Arenberg Shiraz Viognier Laughing Magpie 2006
Once poured this wine is youthful and dark with a crimson hue. The aromas are loud and intense with the viognier having an impact throughout the wine. The wine has an initial mix of dark plummy fruits, spice and stone fruit characters with a mix of blueberries, plums, cured meats
and flowery notes with white and green pepper characters.
As the wine opens up further notes of blueberry, cranberry and lavender/black tea characters come
through with a mix of ginger and flower blossom which indicates the fragrance of viognier. The palate is juicy and long and tastes superbly integrated for such a young, full bodied wine. There are plenty of bold shiraz characters dominated by black fruits, satsuma plums, blueberry and licorice notes and a lovely level of juiciness and wild honey sweetness from the Viognier. The finish is long and pointed and would suggest this wine will greatly benefit with further bottle aging.

The 2003 RunRig (97% Shiraz and 3% Viognier aged in 100% new French oak) represents the essence of old vine Barossa fruit. Extraordinarily opulent and rich, but playing it closer to the vest than the 2001, it is one of the most remarkable wines made in either the Southern or Northern Hemisphere. An inky/purple colour is ccompanied by a sumptuous bouquet of apricots, honeysuckle, black raspberries, blackberries, licorice, and a hint of roasted meats. The wood has been soaked up by the wines extraordinary concentration.
