|
DON’T PAY $23.00
The release of this Bordeaux Blend -'Meritage' is a stunner!A very bold rich, brick red colour with purple hues, the nose has delightful lifted blackberry and cassis. Just like Bordeaux, since it's made with the same grapes!! There's a rich, full aroma to it. Depending on the particular blend, it can be blackberry, black cherry, spices, chocolate, and vanilla. Most Meritages have the Bordeaux signature flavors - cigar box, rich fruits, with a hefty feel.
It has to be a "high-end" wine for the winery - & it has to be a blend of certain grapes. These are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot. |

A huge, meaty 14% ALC/VOL Cabernet Sauvignon and rich opulent Merlot blend from the Mornington Peninsula. I have to say after selling the remaining stocks of chardonnay and Pinot we welcomed this fantastic wine with open arms. The real surprise comes from the huge amount of fruit and length this wine offers, it is truly remarkable. I can become seriously fond of this blend structure if they were all produced so well and I rate it

Eye catching vibrant youthful red hues of good depth catch your attention when you open this little beauty. Greeted with ripe berry fruits with chocolate mint characters typical of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon and a nice dab of spice from the Shiraz component. Good concentration of ripe sweet berry fruits with impressive mid palate fleshiness due to the influence of Shiraz. Soft round palate profile with ripe tannin at finish. This is definitely a wine to suit nearly everyone, not too complicated but very , very enjoyable for all.

Made solely from premium quality Grenache fruit harvested late in the season from old vines in the Barossa. A pleasant easy drinking style, with a most attractive crimson colour and loads of flavour. The bouquet is filled with varietal red berry fruit characters. The palate is well rounded in tannin structure with an abundance of raspberry and slightly earth flavours. An ideal antipasto wine and especially enjoyable with all lamb dishes - roast rack or marinated shoulder. |

A great big vibrant blood red with purple tint. Enticing aroma of Intensely pungent perfume, with dense blackcurrant, ripe fruit perfumes and savoury herbs. Chocolate, coffee and raspberry with hints of earthy tones and toasted cedary oak underlie the complex aromas. The palate as you would expect is a lovely juicy palate up front with solid tannins kicking in rather early with a firm finish. Intense juicy raspberry and blackberry compete with smoky wood flavours.

Len Evans the Guru! Has produced this export wine to showcase regional quality and style.
Here lies a delightful Bordeaux type blend of mostly Cabernet and some wonderful finely textured tannins. Mature interlayered chocolate, plum and spice and oak all nestle gentley together to ensure a very good length to the palate. It's back! This is a terrific wine and one which will sell out quicker than you'll enjoy your next public Holiday this year. If I am asked for nearly one wine most often it is this baby
Displaying all the hallmarks that we have come to expect from this "here today - gone tomorrow" regular from our friends at Pertaringa, with a new twist. A dash (only 7%) of Petit Verdot. Madness? No... Brilliance! Produced by Ian Leask and Geoff Hardy, this is McLaren Vale Cabernet at it's finest. This tasty number has a deep, almost crimson purple colour. Aromas of fragrant blackcurrant fruit, mulberry, cedary cinnamon spice, and barrel ferment are eminent on the nose. Mulberry flavours are also present on the palate, with some cassis, blueberry and sweet rhubarb followed by firm but fine grained tannins. What are you waiting for? |

| Geoff Hardy 'Handcrafted' Cabernet Blend 2004 |
|
| This enigmatic 'Founders Choice' Cabernet blend made me stop in my tracks! I took a deep breath and revisited the glass. The wine floods the mouth with concentrated blackcurrants and forest berries followed by savory elements and hints of mocha, held by a tight tannin tructure with fine grained cedary oak. It was disturbing to realise the depth of this Cabernet whilst still so young and offering so much more for the future. If it had been my son, I would send him straight over for the next MENSA class. This blend for the wine society of Canada is predominately Cabernet from the best vineyards and blended with some tempranillo that combines with sound smooth chocolaty Cabernet for grip, tannin and firm structure to provide an absolute bonza food wine. |

| d'Arenberg d'Arry's Original 2005 |
|
In its youth d'Arry's Original display a bright magenta like brick red colour. This lovely, spicy, plumy red combines the succulent sweet fruit of Grenache and the depth and structure of Shiraz. A real charmer, with well-judged tannin grip. The nose invariably attacks with lifted spicy cinnamon plum, mulberry & prune aromas. Typically cherry, wild strawberry & lolly-like musk smells also, as well as tighter liquorice, spice, rosemary & fennel smells. Parker rates this at 91/100 and says..."‘One of my consistent favorites from d’Arenberg is their d’Arry’s Original, and the terrific 2004 is a super value. A dark ruby/purple color is accompanied by beautiful blackberry, cassis, cherry, and licorice scents with hints of Provencal herbs and pepper in the background. This medium to full-bodied, front endloaded blend of Shiraz and Grenache possesses considerable fruit, body, and silky tannins as well as enough acidity to provide definition. Drink it over the next 3-4 years." |

| d Arenberg Grenache The custodian 2005 |
|
The appearance is vibrant with red cherry centre and looks fabulous. Upon pouring, fragrant Grenache notes of violets, ripe red-fruit jams, spice, strawberry, cranberry and mulberry characters with flowery, earthy, liquorice, pot-pouri notes developing as the wine opens up. The palate is medium bodied, fleshy with a concentrated array of red berries, dark sweet plums, strawberries and spicy softness. Fruit sweetness takes hold midway through the palate and then explodes with fruit flavours and lively, ripe, gritty, fragrant tannins that linger on past the finish of the wine. Presently the wine is not as big as some previous years due to the cooler growing season but it’s clearly one of the more refined and elegant Custodians made for some time. The wine is perfectly balanced between fruit weight, level of concentration, tannins and acidity as your mouth quickly salivates for a second helping. That’s Grenache for you. |

Great to see such a balanced, attractive, clean Trinders - it's a label that's had something of a roller-coaster ride over the past six or seven years. This release is a strong one. Dusty, gravelly, herbal and yet ripe, with dry blackcurrant swinging through a fine mesh of tannin. It finishes clean and fruity, and will cellar for at least 10 years - but will be at its best in the medium term. Drink: 2006-2015. 91 points. Campbell Mattinson, The Winefront |

| d'Arenberg Galvo Garage Cabernet Merlot Cab.Franc 2004 |
|
A sensational double Gold winning wine that upon release appears deep dark, garnet appearance suggests a powerful full-bodied wine. An exotic array of classical cabernet blackcurrant cassis, ripe berries, dominate your senses but with poise. Dark chocolate, blackcurrant and prune juice mix of flavours dominates with, mulberries, dark plums, cherries, mocha, lavender, cut flower stems and violets laced with spices. The palate is tightly structured; plenty of depth with a very fine array of chocolaty tannins swirling around. A lovely smidge of fresh mint acidic background gives dryness to the intense black / red fruit finish. As it opens up it looks more Margaux like with its vibrant aromas crossed with Napa tannins and mid palate power and a Bolgheri finish, but its McLaren Vale through and through. |

| d'Arenberg Shiraz Viognier Laughing Magpie 2006 |
|
Once poured this wine is youthful and dark with a crimson hue. The aromas are loud and intense with the viognier having an impact throughout the wine. The wine has an initial mix of dark plummy fruits, spice and stone fruit characters with a mix of blueberries, plums, cured meats and flowery notes with white and green pepper characters. As the wine opens up further notes of blueberry, cranberry and lavender/black tea characters come through with a mix of ginger and flower blossom which indicates the fragrance of viognier. The palate is juicy and long and tastes superbly integrated for such a young, full bodied wine. There are plenty of bold shiraz characters dominated by black fruits, satsuma plums, blueberry and licorice notes and a lovely level of juiciness and wild honey sweetness from the Viognier. The finish is long and pointed and would suggest this wine will greatly benefit with further bottle aging. |

An Australian wine with obvious Rhône Valley pretensions. Its spicy, meaty aromas of violets, blackberries, plums and undergrowth are laced with a perfume of cloves and cinnamon, with underlying suggestions of cured meats. Elegant and fine-grained despite its remarkable opulence and complexity, its juicy, fleshy palate of licorice-like red and black fruits culminates in a very long and savoury finish of lingering intensity. DESCENDANT It’s made off relatively young vines but this release is the breakthrough vintage for this label – the mammoth, concentrated, overwhelming power of this wine says anything but immaturity. It’s a monster. But an exceptionally pure monster. Full of warm, floral, plummy, porty fruit with a nutty aftertaste and a carve of finely tailored tannins. It makes you sit straighter in your chair.
