As Robert Parker has been known to say, "Pure blackberry liqueur mixed with hints of charcoal, tar, and pepper jump from the glass of this soft, velvety-textured, opulent, fruit-filled Shiraz."

100% handcrafted soft pressed, Shiraz , handmade and from 10-20 year old vines, aged 12 months , this fabulous effort may be the finest inexpensive Shiraz David Powell has yet produced. Succulent soft Blackberry, raspberry, cherry, licorice, and peppery aromas soar from the glass of this full-bodied, opulent, voluptuously-textured wine. Boasting superb purity, length, and intensity, this vintage simply over-delivers & will gain momentum in years to come. Rate = 93/100

Geoff Hardy Vineyard Series - Shiraz 2005

WAS $20.00
Yummy! I was lucky to taste this HUGE wine pre release when in McLaren Vale early this year and ordered all I coud take. This wine ladles a seriously big serving of generous flavour, supple yet grippy tannin that such a fantastic vintage year provides the background for. With the stamp of very impressive ripe rich raspberries and spicy wild berries on the palate. This wine blows away many, many GOLD winning wines in the better trophy competitions every time and an absolute steal at this price! Rate this 91/100

*****Decanter Magazine Top 50 Best value reds in the world *****

A dark, exciting looking wine with a cherry red hue. Initially dominated by roasted plum and cherry notes. Elements of spice, spearmint and smoke are quite elegant and refined which suggest a cooler year. As the wine opens up, there is strong emphasis on red fruits such as
Satsuma plums, cranberries, mulberry and cherries mixed with characters of carob and a savoury edge similar to cut flower stems. The palate is complex, layered and is very precise with a firm, mineral boundary that suppresses the fruit yet the finish is surprising soft and long and very red in flavour. The balance of the red fragrant fruits and dark berries with the oak seems more noticeable than in previous years. The length and intensity of flavour is a great attribute of this wine; the flavours continue to linger on and on.
