Halliday Winery.
STOP PRESS: From the award winning Toolangi Vineyards Estate, this vineyard is definitely on the move. Recently its chardonnay 2004 was named in James Halliday's Top 100 Wines "PICK OF THE CROP". The fruit for this wine was hand picked from the Dixon's Creek Vineyard in the Yarra Valley. The colour is still vibrant and strong with a good blast of aromatic Cabernet followed up with well ripened fruit tending a bit more to Chocolate and coco balancing well with some green tinges. In a year that was warm and dry, with even flowering, low yields provided a situation for the of quality Cabernet. This Cabernet was aged in French oak for 18 months, there is no hint of green stalkiness just good structure and relaxed tannins. The wine being made by Trevor Mast at Mt Langi Ghiran and really at this price goes a long long way as a very solid addition to the Kitchen wine cellar as a Ripper drink every day of the week. |

The release of this Bordeaux Blend -'Meritage' is a stunner!A very bold rich, brick red colour with purple hues, the nose has delightful lifted blackberry and cassis. Just like Bordeaux, since it's made with the same grapes!! There's a rich, full aroma to it. Depending on the particular blend, it can be blackberry, black cherry, spices, chocolate, and vanilla. Most Meritages have the Bordeaux signature flavors - cigar box, rich fruits, with a hefty feel. It has to be a "high-end" wine for the winery - & it has to be a blend of certain grapes. These are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot. Just Yum!

| Halliday Rated this 90/100 in the 2009 Edition and I can see why he claims it as being exceptional Value! I love Cabernet with excellent varietal fruit strengths, showing violets, blackberry, cedar & cassis. the touch of savoury olive is a wonderful light touch that adds to the densly packed fruit driven wine. This joint venture between Alister Pubrick(Tahbilk) and Andrew McPherson normally goes overseas so it is delightful to have a big stock of this just hit the floor. I hope you enjoy your first sip , taste and mouthfull as much as I did. |

A terrific small batch of cancelled export for the Hong Kong Restaurant Market is our good luck! (Joss) Sourced exclusively for us, this South Australian Cabernet Sauvignon is from a premium vintage. This wine was exported to an exclusive Hong Kong retailer and there are only a handful of cases remaining. It displays a lively palate of blackcurrant, dark chocolate and dried fruits. Its full bodied palate exudes complexity and the robust mouth filling flavours are enhanced by 18 months in oak. This wine will reward careful cellaring for many years. It exemplifies the cool maritime growing conditions of McLaren Vale. It’s also drinking well now so enjoy it with soft cheeses, Mediterranean dishes and interesting conversation, McLaren Vale Cabernet is back in style. 2004 was an outstanding vintage and this wine from a single estate shows all the quality cues expected of an exceptional wine. It has excellent new French and American oak maturation and was intended to be cellared for many years The 14.5% alcohol level gives an indication of richness and ripeness achieved during this vintage. The wine has been matured in new and one year old hogsheads at the winery before being bottled in August 2006. |

New Vintage back in store. I know you laugh at this label, but you have to admit, grudgingly I know, that this is the REAL - DEAL from Langhorne Creek. An intoxicating richly appointed Cabernet Sauvignon, with layers of integrated fruit, Cedary Oak and lip smacking, thought provoking complexity. The wine was fermented in open vats allowing maximum contact with the grape skin and then matured in new American barriques for a period of 20 months. This is a full bodied luscious Cabernet, with layers of flavour and complexity. Wonderful scents of cigar box and vanilla coffee beans are rounded off with flavours of ripe plums and cassis with just a hint of dark cocoa chocolate and a lingering, slightly dry, but smooth finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Langhorne Creek - mouth filling wine to be best enjoyed with full flavoured foods such as game or grain-fed beef. However, the natural ripeness of flavour allows this wine to be enjoyed with a variety of foods. My suggestion? A rolled fillet of young Lamb crusted with mint, rosemary, olive oil, lemon, a touch of coriander and sea salt grilled quickly... pink inside with steamed Asian vegies. |

This enigmatic 'Founders Choice' Cabernet blend made me stop in my tracks! I took a deep breath and revisited the glass. The wine floods the mouth with concentrated blackcurrants and forest berries followed by savory elements and hints of mocha, held by a tight tannin tructure with fine grained cedary oak. It was disturbing to realise the depth of this Cabernet whilst still so young and offering so much more for the future. If it had been my son, I would send him straight over for the next MENSA class. This blend for the wine society of Canada is predominately Cabernet from the best vineyards and blended with some tempranillo that combines with sound smooth chocolaty Cabernet for grip, tannin and firm structure to provide an absolute bonza food wine.

We ripped open a huge feed of mixed HokKien noodles & Mongolian beef and attempted to challenge this wine to a duel. The results were astounding. This Cabernet Sauvignon is a fine example of a McLaren Vale Cabernet, and in my book from a very underrated vintage. The nose is smack bang in your face fresh & lively with enticing blackcurrant fruit, savoury olive and just the right hint of leafy aromas. Palate wise this wine melds over the mouth space with a solid structure based on pure fruit intensity, tannin, balanced alcohol, and comes together as a complete well balanced wine. Hints of toffee, spice and plum fruit. Silky smooth tannins from olf fashioned cap management go a long way to improving the overall density of structure left in the bottle. In my opinion a very , very good Cabernet Sauvignon. |

A ‘blockbuster wine’ - The magical Barossan Icon winemakers have triumphed with some intense small batch, cool climate wines here and produced a wine that is dark ruby red, almost black in colour, with the intense varietal fruit aromas of plum, black berries, spicy beetroot and earthy notes. A full bodied wine and matching palate, this wine will go superbly well with rich meat dishes such as beef with a red wine glaze. The wine has a fine grained tannin structure, and a terrifically good acid balance. A wine which will reward with further cellaring for up to 20 years. The 2004 Vintage was quite exceptional with no significant rainfall for the majority of the vintage period, and moderate weather conditions through out ripening. The overall quality for this vintage was excellent due to the combination of climatic factors and the development of more mature vines. |

Accolades all round to some very serious intentions from this winery to produce passionately with an eye to flavour and intensity. Dark purple in colour, this wine delivers some very enticing aromas of dark olive, tobacco, coffee, chocolate liqueur along with some sweet notes of violets. Rich chocolate and berry flavour dominate the front palate with juicy fruits bound together with an abundance of acid and tannin. The Petit Verdot is providing the structural framework of tannin and aromatics, the Merlot the mid palate juiciness, the Cabernet the structure and the Cabernet franc the perfume.

At 15%Alc/Vol this is a sensatinal blend of Premium fruit from Limestone Coast and Adelaide hills. The 2004 vintage which was cool and dry, providing slow ripening over an extended period. This vintage has been hailed by many to be the absolute ripper and with the ensuing lean years ahead a good suggestion is to rip a few of these dozens into your cellar. This is a complex and beautifully crafted wine. Its bouquet is quintessentially Cabernet Sauvignon. Un-mistakably crafted by experts showing varietal cool-climate in character, revealing its intense blackberries and dark plums, dark olives complemented with subtle cedar/vanilla oak with undertones of aromatic herbaceous qualities. The pallet displays a rich tapestry inn abundance of forest fruits with wonderful hits of sweet cassis. Its tannins are firm and fine-grained which contribute in this wines great balance and elegance. I know you won't be able to help your self but try and put some away as this is seriously great wine and a fraction of the cost. To allow the superb varietal characteristics of this wine to shine we strongly suggest decanting and/or allowing the wine to breath before serving. Rate 95/100 Drink 2010-2022

Although the Pope has flown home choosing this illustrious winery to board the plane with him we now have the cracking new vintage ready to go and what a cracker! The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon is a full bodied style, using fruit produced from 35-40 year old vines on the Follett family vineyard. This a big structural wine with a feast of tannins, cassis, length and flavour. All combine to produce a wine of real class and also real aging capacity. I reckon this beauty will continue to grow in the bottle big time.
Traditional open fermentation was employed with maceration times varying between 7 - 21 days. The wine was matured in French and American oak barriques for 20 months, prior to bottling with minimal filtration. It displays a wonderful complex array of mint, blackcurrant and cedary oak aromas. These characters are also reflected on the palate, which has silky texture and a wonderfully soft tannin finish. This wine has a cellaring potential of 10 years.
The past 14 vintages of Lake Breeze Cabernet Sauvignon have won 6 TROPHIES, 25 GOLD medals and many other awards.

Made at Balnaves under the watchful eye of Peter Bissell the production here of two classic varietals afrom two premium areas has triggered a little monster. Deep red with bright purple tinge awaits the first pour!
The nose is rich and complex with layers of blackberry fruit, pepper and spice notes, and some mocha coffee elements coming from the oak.
The palate is tight and intensely fruity with bright blackberry, blueberry and blackcurrant flavours running onto a sweet spicy finish. Excellent mid-palate structure, depth and fully ripe tannins define this wine and indicate it will reward short term cellaring. Drink NOW – 2012

| The balance is a key feature in all Penley wines. This will ensure the wines will mature successfully in the bottle. This wine shows dominance of spicy cabernet fruit, a dense ripeness with hints of smoky oak and grape tannin. A wine made to enjoy while the young, ripe but elegant, distinct Coonawarra cabernet sauvignon characters are evident. Barrel fermentation in 25% new French oak provided a balanced integration of oak and fruit. To maintain the style, the amount of time in oak each year will vary with the vintage. The colour is bright crimson with hints of dark purple due to its oak maturation and specific handling techniques. The fragrant aroma consists of ripe and rich fruit with complex spice and strong varietal character typical of the 2006 Coonawarra vintage. The aromas are of blackberry and cassis. Distinct blackberry/ blackcurrant (Cassis) flavours, characteristic of a good Coonawarra cabernet sauvignon. The flavour is of young ripe fruits with silky grape tannin and elegant complex cedar oak ,so typical of the Penley Style. A wine that is closer to full bodied with more grape and oak tannins but that still maintains beautiful balance. |

The second release of their Barossa Cabernet, and the second in a series of ‘Tribute’ wines. This is named in honour of a viticulturist of some note. As the back label says, raise a glass to SDT...
Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in one third new American oak and two thirds in one year old French oak barrels for 22 months. Deep in colour with lovely perfumed cassis on the nose, blackcurrant and some subtle oak too. It's rich yet elegant, nothing green and nothing tarry. Lovely fresh cassis fruit-really juicy with integrated creamy oak on the palate. Sweet and lively with great length. Only 100 cases produced |

Another very good value and consistently well made wine sourced from Mclaren Vale SA. Beguiling deep plum with brick red hues are the first signs you are in for a good dinner or lunch. Pop the top and away you go with immediate lifted aromas of fresh berry fruit, particularly mulberry, plump blackberry and raspberry, with hints of liquorice, cinnamon and juniper berries adding complexity. Succulent red berry fruits and ripe plums layer the palate and are balanced with subtle oak characters and velvety tannins. The wine has generous fruit weight, intensity and length, a true reflection of the 2006 vintage. A biggish 14.9% Alc but very moorish Indeed! |

Xanadu Cabernet Sauvignon 2004, RRP$25 – 94 points The Top 500 Wines 2005-2006 by Tyson Stelzer, Wine Press Despite the outstanding quality of the 2004 vintage, Xanadu’s new owners wanted all of the best cabernet to contribute to this wine, with no reserve (Lagan) wine to be produced. The result is an outstanding wine of remarkable value. Crunchy black and red cherry fruit is enveloped in huge seek-and-destroy tannins. It is none-the-less finely structured and very long. Biggish and very juicy coming in at 14.9% with a brooding deep ominus colour. Black and red currant with hints of black olive on the nose with cassis and marzipan filling the nostrils, complimented with French oak characters of cedar and biscuity vanilla.
The Palate: A rich, fruitful, full mouth feel of black currant, blackberries and cassis is complimented by the sweetness of the French oak influence and the finish is long and spicy and youthfully austere. This wine is still going plenty of places and is really a splendid find for those in the know but may have not come across it yet! Drink well more often! |

These elegant wines express purity of flavour, whilst being rich, powerful and complex. Soft tannins allow the wines to be approachable at any age. Ageing in ultra fine grained high quality French oak to enhance the nuances of the individual
parcels of fruit.
Almost black in colour with a purple hue. A lifted and herbaceous nose with hints of ripe plums and nutmeg. The palate is somewhat restrained yet shows generosity of fruit. The amarone component of the blend (20%) provides mid palate depth
savoury complexity. |

A very impressive Medal winner already having taken out the Korean Gold Medal with plenty more to come.
The wine’s appearance is noticeably deep and dark, suggesting a complex full-bodied, oak matured wine. The aromas are very classic Cabernet with notes of exotic dark plums, mulberry, blackcurrants, fragrant cassis and an underlying mix of dark chocolate, cherries, cured meats and spiced violets. Green runner-bean and fine-toasted, French oak, cedar notes come through as the wine opens. The palate is ripe and has an impressive elegance upon entry and then you are struck with the overwhelming complexity and presence. Extremely juicy with a wonderful deep richness and structure. A mix of pure fruit with edges of exotic notes, immense structure and length with mineral acidity and fine lacy tannins directing the fruit. 2006 vintage is regarded as one of the largest vintages ever despite starting and finishing early. Overall quality was excellent for whites and reds. Cabernet Sauvignon was a particular highlight as flavours developed at a lower than normal beaume giving complexity and depth to the flavour profile. A dry winter followed by heavy rains in spring resulted in vines with healthy, balanced canopies on most soils. A mild, early summer leading into a warmer period during veraison stopped vegetative growth allowing vines to channel energy into the fruit. Cooler ripening condition followed veraison were ideal for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon. Warmer conditions returned late February, early March which increased baumes and colour without eroding the wonderful fragrant fruit characters and levels of natural acidity.

Great to see such a balanced, attractive, clean Trinders - it's a label that's had something of a roller-coaster ride over the past six or seven years. This release is a strong one. Dusty, gravelly, herbal and yet ripe, with dry blackcurrant swinging through a fine mesh of tannin. It finishes clean and fruity, and will cellar for at least 10 years - but will be at its best in the medium term. Drink: 2006-2015. 91 points. Campbell Mattinson, The Winefront |

Hungerford Hill has been rated as a 5 Star winery by James Halliday. The 5 star rating recognises Hungerford Hill as an "outstanding winery capable of producing wines of very high quality." "Attractive blackcurrant and mulberry fruit; good line without without the Cabernet doughnut structure; French oak integrated and balanced." The best Cabernet are often kept to achieve some bottle age and complexity and this saving makes fantastic buying for supreme quality. |

| A deep ruby colour with bright red hues. A classic year for Cabernet showing a deeply concentrated brooding nose of cassis liqueur, black currents, mulberries, menthol and dark chocolate. The nose is a reflection of the ripeness and generous fruit depth coming from the 2005 vintage. The wine is well balanced with soft supple tannins, sweet fruit and elegant acid structure. The refined palate offers a full bodied rich wine yet well harnessed and controlled by fine chalky tannin structure and raspberry conserve like acid. An opulent and varietal Cabernet that was made possible by near perfect vintage conditions, strategic vineyard selection and blending. This wine is best consumed within 6-8 years from bottling. |

The 2002 vintage produced great Cabernet Sauvignon: the Barossa experienced the coolest summer on record, so that ripening conditions were perfect for this noble red wine variety. Chief Winemaker, Andrew Wigan, has proclaimed the 2002 vintage as the greatest Barossa Cabernet vintage of his 30 year winemaking career. This wine is a complex blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 10% Shiraz, 8% Malbec. Sourced from The Stonewell, Ebenezer and Light Pass districts of the Barossa Valley. The Colour has a dense black centre with a dark red/garnet rim. The nose is an exciting mélange of mixed spice, wild violets, hints of mint and black currants. The richness and depth of the fruit is a seamless blend. A wine of great power and length, it shows a superb balance between the fruit and the fine-grained tannins. A distinguished wine of great dignity and is only a very limited release. Wood: Fermented and thence matured for 18 months in new French oak hogsheads. Cellaring: It can be cellared with confidence for a further 10 plus years. Alc/Vol: 14.0% |

Triple GOLD & trophy winner!
This wine has a deep, dark, vibrant appearance with an almost plummy-red hue. The nose initially shows an intense mix of coffee, cassis, blackcurrants, blueberries and dried cherry notes. As the wine opens there are complex spiced, tarry, hung meat elements and fine-grained oak characters lifting through. The palate is intense with a mix of dark black fruits, violets, cassis and red currents which linger towards a chocolatey dried herb finish. There is an immense concentration of fruit that hangs off a central backbone that runs down the roof of your mouth which softens the wall of tannins that encapsulate this wine. The purity of fruit is superb. its long, the flavours are dominate red as it fan tails out to the finish leaving a palate texture reminiscing of home-made pastry made with real butter. |

Buy 12 bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon and we'll throw in 12 bottles FREE of the 90 point Halliday Rated Reserve Cleanskin Chardonnay 2002 valued at $318.00 -
Halliday Rated this 90/100 in the 2009 Edition and I can see why he claims it as being exceptional Value!
Chardonnay - 90 Points 2007 James Halliday Wine Companion, Silver 2006 Perth Royal Wine Show. Beautiful oak and fruit integration, rich and creamy and drinking great now!
