Well you can quite clearly see the influence of Eucalypt here along with some terrific vintage characteristics that have combined to produce a very much bigger , robust style Shiraz with plenty of tannin and structural length that provide fo a long , soul searching palate.
Good overall notes of darkest Cheery and brambly dark forest fruits with some mid black and white pepper. Tannins are well represented adding backbone and I would suggest some delightful longevity to this vintage. So i hope you enjoy this small vintage Shiraz from some wonderful people just up along the mighty Murray near Echuca! |

| There is a big nose choc a block full of dark cherry, spice and chockolate flavours here with sweet black cherry, spice and some nice intensity of pepper flavours. A stylish palate with silky tannins which are beautifully softened and a drink now finish. "Galafrey Frankland River Shiraz 2001 is a lovely wine. Delicious sweet ripe berry fruits on the palate combining with powerful dry tannins and understated but complimentary oak. Beautifully balanced! This is super value.’ Ray Jordan. The Western Australian. May 2005. “ Dark red-purple in colour. Black cherry, plum and some fleshy characters on the nose. Medium-ripe palate showing good fruit characters married to fine oak before nice long finish. A very nicely made shiraz showing the cooler spectrum characters. Medium term cellaring.” |

Halliday rated winery 14% Alc/Vol and as Goldilocks said, "Just Right!" Mostly cool climate from Orange NSW Fruit this vibrant, crimson red, full-bodied soft fruit flavours with ripe sweet tannins and a long dry finish. Wine like this 'RED' style is designed to complement today’s lifestyle. It is fresh, lively, easy going and challenges the average. This Shiraz is designed for everyday drinking and is an excellent example of this style. The full-bodied palate has soft fruit flavours, with ripe sweet tannins and a long dry finish. Designed for drinking young, this wine can be enjoyed with a variety of red meat dishes or equally enjoyable on its own.

Trevor Mast has made the 2001 Billi Billi from the younger Shiraz vines at Mount Langi Ghiran, along with a portion of fruit from other select vineyard areas in Victoria. The wine is crimson in colour with intense sweet fruit aromas. There is a touch of wicked blueberry and excellent spice, balanced by subtle oak. A mix of Rhone varieties Shiraz, Grenache & Mourvedre (75%) has been blended with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (25%). The fruit driven blend was matured in older French and American oak barrels, and has soft tannins, good length and complexity. The Shiraz contributes the spice, with the Grenache and Mourvedre softening the wine. Trevor Mast produces intense, excellent value wines on a yearly basis and this is a wonderful display with the cellaring already taken care of, showing rich plum and spicy complexity typical of Billi Billi. Lovely pepper notes on finish. Another warm, low yielding year, as reflected in both concentration of wines and the volume available. An excellent growing season, with wines consistently showing good “Langi” spiciness, complimenting generous berry fruit characters. Buy as much as you can as this will not come around again.

Don't be fooled here, Ultra Premium Shiraz lies in abundance awating your cellar with a touch of Viognier to add some mid pallate fleshyness. The cold growing conditions of Beechworth in the Victorian Alps produce intense, edgy Shiraz. The deep alluvial soils are well drained producing big rich wines with firm tannins and a tightly structured palate displaying characteristic notes of spice and pepper with some eucalyptus and toasty aromas.
The Shiraz vineyard was originally planted over ten years ago and is now fully mature producing big, full bodied, complex wines with richness and intensity. The added 7% Viognier is to fill out the middle palate and give a sensitive, soft mouth feel as well as the distinctive aroma of baked peaches enhancing the dusty, smoky flavours of savoury meats, leather and tobacco.
It’s conversation, food and premium friend friendly and combines well with the footy, Oven baked meats, Mediterranean dishes using herbs and char grilled veggies like capsicum, aubergine, zucchini or mushrooms as well as spicy pasta sauces with tomatoes and onions. It will be ideal drinking over the next 5-9 years. |

This Margaret River Shiraz is from a single block off the Watford vineyard in the Cape Naturaliste region. It enjoys the maritime influence of both the southern Indian Ocean and Geographe Bay. In 2002 the vineyard achieved good ripeness and fruit flavour and the wine was made with more of a French influence than the typical blockbuster style. It was aged in used French oak barriques for nearly 24 months before being bottled in 2004. It was stored in temperature controlled cellars for over 3 years before being released as a maturation reserve wine in October 2007.
It has a lovely mid red colour with hints of brick red from bottle maturation under cork. The bouquet has the freshness of mulberry and blackcurrant with the added complexity of sweet earthy spices, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate is clean and elegant with sweet berry fruit on entry combined with earthy spices and soft vanillin oak. Fine grained tannins fill out the mid palate while the mellow acid structure produces a finish that is smooth, clean and dry.
It is delicious drinking now matched with lamb, pasta or Mediterranean style dishes. Always a wonderful hit to have a Shiraz that is showing full deep fruit flavours without any lack of balance. The Oak used adds some mid pallet complexity and although rich it makes the overall wine balanced rather than too heavy or just big on alcohol. Rates 92/100

STOP what you are doing and reach for the credit card, as this beauty really slaps together amazing value from a spanking vintage, great wine and winemaking skills! This Langhorne Creek Shiraz is a classic example of winemaking collaboration. It has been hand selected from a tiny block of ancient vines in Langhorne Creek. The fully ripened berries were hand-picked and the wine individually crafted by 2008 Barossa winemaker of the year. It’s been gently resting in the Barossa in climate controlled conditions for the past 32 months and is now ready for release.
Immediately captivating it has a dark, inky red colour and intense, ripe plums and cherries on the nose. There are hints of cedar wood and vanilla from new oak maturation which compliment the underlying savoury spice and roasted coffee character. The palate has robust fruit on entry, graduating to more earthy spices and finishing with a licorice complexity. There’s big tannin grip and noticeable acidity. It’s great now with a well aged steak but will gracefully mature for another 10 plus years. It has been thoughtfully bottled under screw cap so your investment is secure.
(This wine was being sold by Heritage Wines, in London for GBP 35.00 - A$72.00).

Yum ho! An instantly appealing inky-purple drink me now sort of wine with wonderful robust come hither colour. McPherson Shiraz Cabernet blend bursts with juicy fruit flavours. A nice big lick of Shiraz is the predominant grape and adds a generous big whack of juicy fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon comes in very handy in adding lovely back ground strength for tannin and some well balanced acidity. Aromas and flavours of perfectly ripened plums and wild redcurrants are evident at first, with secondary aromas of delicious dark chocolate and beautiful spice adding intrigue and complexity to the wine. Well-integrated American oak and silky soft tannins help create a supple, smooth wine.

Brooding deep red plum colour with purple tints. Nice attack of stewed plum aromas complemented by soft vanillin oak. Just what you want from this wine is surpassed on your first sip with a long, full palate with blackberry and bramble flavours complemented by earthy notes and soft, spicy oak. The wine was fermented on skins with a neutral yeast strain to retain maximum primary fruit characters. After primary fermentation the wine was soft pressed and under went malolactic fermentation. A portion of the blend was treated with mirco-oxygenation to provide a richer, darker colour and produce finner rounder tannins. It was then aged on American and French oak. YUM! |

The Barossa is one of Australia’s most renowned regions for producing quality premium Shiraz. This stunning example of the acclaimed 2004 vintage is powerful with layers of ripe blackberries, dark cherries and luscious chocolate, mocha and macerated fruit characters. A wonderful flood of flavour and Oak combine to provide a limitless length and sessionable wine provoking conversation from friends expecting it to be in the $30 Category from the local Fine wine shop. The Evans Wine Company was set up by Len Evans after Rothbury Estate was sold to Fosters in 1996. Its primary focus was to supply the export markets of USA and UK with premium red wine from the highest quality regions. Nine Stones is a reference to his Celtic heritage and the ancient tradition of erecting stone circles with nine standing stones as a tribal meeting place of the Druids. You of course just have to be smart to drink this little gem not magical or Holy, so Enjoy! |

| This is a block buster Shiraz from low yielding, 40 year old vines at Clarendon Hills. It’s a great expression of micro winemaking. Only 3 barrels were made and only 92 dozen exist of this inky black, intensely robust and aggressively complex cool climate Shiraz. It’s got big alcohol (15.4%), big tannin, big oak and monster flavour. It’s been racked straight out of American oak and delivers a bouquet of sweet, rich blueberry fruit and dark roasted coffee beans with a dusty, earthy, spicy background. The palate has ripe cherries and plums supported by cedar wood, vanilla and solid, gripping, fine grained tannins. An assertive, flavoursome wine, it demands attention. Cellar for as long as you can resist temptation then decant before drinking (it’s unfiltered for maximum flavour but will throw a heavy sediment over long periods of cellaring). |

This will go down as a cracker of a vintage and has definitely brought out the best of this region and wine maker to produce a big GEM of a wine. A superbly rich, complex bouquet of ripe berries from the peppery Shiraz, with hints of musk and flowers in full bloom from the Viognier. Nice to see it is part of the overall aromatic canvass rather than being the dominant sensory indicator. A lot of wine drinkers are now enjoying the lifted notes and silkiness that a dash of Viognier adds to the picture. Drink Well! |

Finally, this winery is getting some critical acclaim for some very well made and even more appealing, quality, approachable and enjoyable Australian wines. Selling like hot cakes due to price and quality, I would recommend you get yours today to ensure the cellar is full to the brim with this little ripper.
"Deep magenta red with purple hues. Lifted morello cherry fruit, black pepper with hints of vanilla pod and toasted oak. Bright up front red-berry fruit characters with a rich, rounded fruit weight. The blackberry and raspberry palate is complemented by well integrated spicy vanilla oak. Well rounded with excellent length and persistence." Keith Brown. Various parcels of Shiraz came together to make the 2006 wine, these included a wide range of regions from Swan Hill up to the Barossa and Eden Valleys then back to Sunraysia. Also included with some of these Shiraz parcels some Viognier skins for co-fermentation. Fermentation was conducted on skins over a seven to ten day period to maximize fruit and enhance tannin structure and mouth-feel. Some of the new wines were pressed early, direct to barrique for barrel fermentation. All wines underwent complete malo lactic fermentation in tank or barrel and were matured in a range of new to five year old American and French barriques. The finished wine was aged for a further 12 months in barriques prior to blending, filtration then bottling.

| This is the fifth and largest release of ‘The Schnell’. The grapes come from 6 different growers. This year sees the largest percentage of Shiraz to date but it’s still very much true to style. The wine is a juicy, vibrant hugely appealing style. Aged 10 months in oak, 20% in new French and American oak, the balance in older and shaven oak. Deep in colour with warm berry fruits on a vibrant nose with spice and a touch of oak. It’s full bodied with a lovely rich texture. Vibrant berry and cherry fruit, with lots of spice, and creamy integrated oak this makes it really voluptuous. Hugely appealing and has that classic Magpie hallmark of great drinkability. |

“The 2006 Shiraz was barrel-fermented and aged in predominantly American oak for 12 months. It offers up fragrant aromas of cedar, smoke, tar, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. Full-bodied, opulent, and structured, this intense, well-balanced Shiraz will evolve for 2-3 years and drink well through 2016.” 92 Points, Jay Miller for the Wine Advocate |

| Great vintage is 2006! Big chewy, tarry fruit explosive wine here boys and gals and also representing some fabulous value for money. Lifted spice and ripe mulberry/blackberry aromas are complimented with chocolate, cedar and cinnamon on the nose. Well integrated oak tannin provides flavours of clove and supple texture which supports the rich plum, blackberry and mocha. The overall structure is supple and generous with fine-grained tannin on the finish enveloped with ripe fruit overtones. |

The 2004 Vintage Halliday Rated at 94/100 and I reckon this vintage has gone one better! A little richer and more succulent!
This distinguished producer of premium Shiraz is selling up and going North, away from the farm and a terrific heritage as an ultra Premium Shiraz producer! The good news is I have this amazing Shiraz, bright, deep liquid purple in colour, exceptional length and wonderful tannin structure are part of this sensational full bodied cool climate wine with delicious rich plum and forrest berry fruits, deep sensual raspberry and a touch of blackberry; fine tannin and controlled oak. 14.5% alc. Just a great drink at below half price and you absolutely deserve it.

| Another very good vintage in 2007 and here is Barossa with style, execution and some nicely maturing vine fruit. Premium parcels of fruit brilliantly blended Shiraz to produce an abundant wine of liquorice and blueberry to entice the nose with a base line of palate tickling tannins and sensible restraint with the use of Oak. Big , rich rewarding and hearty in these cooler days, this wine will please almost everybody it touches and I as a full bodied style I can heartily recommend it for your table. |

In its youth d'Arry's Original display a bright magenta like brick red colour. This lovely, spicy, plumy red combines the succulent sweet fruit of Grenache and the depth and structure of Shiraz. A real charmer, with well-judged tannin grip. The nose invariably attacks with lifted spicy cinnamon plum, mulberry & prune aromas. Typically cherry, wild strawberry & lolly-like musk smells also, as well as tighter liquorice, spice, rosemary & fennel smells. Parker rates this at 91/100 and says..."‘One of my consistent favorites from d’Arenberg is their d’Arry’s Original, and the terrific 2004 is a super value. A dark ruby/purple color is accompanied by beautiful blackberry, cassis, cherry, and licorice scents with hints of Provencal herbs and pepper in the background. This medium to full-bodied, front endloaded blend of Shiraz and Grenache possesses considerable fruit, body, and silky tannins as well as enough acidity to provide definition. Drink it over the next 3-4 years." |

| A lovely rich soft, drink-now expression of Shiraz sourced from the Barossa floor and the cooler Eden hills, 2006 was an excellent vintage for Barossa Shiraz. The restrained yields of the vintage, in combination with the cooler temperatures at ripening, meant particularly rich flavours. The two cuvees were aged in a mix of American and French oak for 18 months before an intensive blending program. Post fermentation maceration on skins and the oak maturation mellowed the wine to its current delicious state, the final blend being an equal proportion of Eden Valley and Barossa floor Shiraz. |

Here is the news Guys and Gals! This premium Shiraz and Clare valley grower bolts in flavour with this very well priced big number. "Crimson in colour. Ripe, bold and lifted Shiraz flavours predominate the nose, rich plum fruits and mocha supported by the French and American oak. Rich and powerful in both fruit flavour and palate persistence the ‘Killerman’s Run’ Shiraz offers outstanding value to those seeking a wine that will accompany a range of meats and fine foods. Small batches of Shiraz were selected from a range of premium South Australian vineyards then vinified by traditional winemaking methods and matured for up to two years in small French and American oak casks before careful blending and bottling unfiltered." From the winery direct with which I agree!

Hot off the press! Halliday rates these guys a perfect 5 star winery & I really like the style from those that make wine here, with some pretty fine grape selections from a mix of vineyards and some pretty hot quality grape vines. The wine maker is French and with this 'screaming Eagle' the results speak for themselves. Start with Bulls Blood Red, crimson, a boomin 15.3% Alc and some finesse with a mixture of new and old French Oak and you start to have the beginings of some very good material for the glass and contemplation of the world and the price of Bank stocks.
The grapes were sourced from the steep slopes of Chalk Hill’s Wits’ End vineyard in the heart of McLaren Vale, South Australia. The Shiraz 2006 has a deep purple-red colour with bright plum hues. The wine was made using a cool, extended ferment over 12 days to enhance and develop the intense flavours of the grapes. This has resulted in a wine displaying intense aromas of cherry and blackberry with fruit driven flavours of raspberry and chocolate. Secondary fermentation in French and American Oak barriques provided a seamless integration of oak and the firm tannin structure. The wine was not filtered prior to bottling and it may develop a harmless sediment. While this wine may be enjoyed now, because of its structure and complexity it may also be carefully cellared until 2013.

| Firstly at 15.4% ALC, this a big full bodied style wine. The 2004 has rich concentrated blackberry fruit on the bouquet with hints of pepper and spices with subtle oak. Shhhhhh.... Whatever you do, keep this to yourself! I do have to say I was involved in distributing this label over 8 years ago and simnply forgot how bloomin fantastic they are. Well, there i was out for dinner and saw the wine offered and although She was not drinking I could not stop myself and pursued what is a seriously great wine. Exploding with small vineyard complexity. All the Koltz releases are open fermented and basket pressed. Koltz practices extended maceration techniques and matures their reds in mainly French oak for a lavish eighteen months. Dog Day is a savoury red which combines the richness of Shiraz with the complexing characters and fine tannins provided by co-fermenting with Viognier. Buy it, drink it, believe it ....fantastic value and feel lucky to get some. rates 93/100 |

*****Decanter Magazine Top 50 Best value reds in the world *****
A dark, exciting looking wine with a cherry red hue. Initially dominated by roasted plum and cherry notes. Elements of spice, spearmint and smoke are quite elegant and refined which suggest a cooler year. As the wine opens up, there is strong emphasis on red fruits such as Satsuma plums, cranberries, mulberry and cherries mixed with characters of carob and a savoury edge similar to cut flower stems. The palate is complex, layered and is very precise with a firm, mineral boundary that suppresses the fruit yet the finish is surprising soft and long and very red in flavour. The balance of the red fragrant fruits and dark berries with the oak seems more noticeable than in previous years. The length and intensity of flavour is a great attribute of this wine; the flavours continue to linger on and on. |

| Mr Riggs, what a beauty! One of the best vintages yet from this Master Winemaker. Packed with red berry and cherry fruits, a spicy finish and great length of tannin. Everything you could ask for... and maybe more! The 2006 Gaffer Shiraz is a testament to the best of McLaren Vale. Made with 20% new French oak, this wine shows excellent integration of Shiraz fruit with the gentle use of oak creating a big, rich, juicy, smooth style of red, finishing with elegance and spice. Co-fermented with a tiny amount of Viognier, just one or two percent, the nose is delicately perfumed and the palate softened. The Gaffer is a flavoursome, fruit-driven, full-bodied Shiraz that is well balanced and assured to please the palate. Buy some! |

A rich red plum colour, 2006 Undercover Shiraz is yet another stand out vintage. This wine displays complex aromas of cloves, chocolate and dark berries. The 2006 Undercover is perhaps richer than the well regarded 2005 which was more classic and savoury in style. This wine has a rich palate with chocolate, spice and lingering juicy fruit flavours balanced by fine grained oak tannin with an ever pleasing persistent long finish. Rate 93/100 Cellar - 2015

Once again, Geoff Hardy has produced some very special, hand picked, low cropped premium, spicy shiraz from the Kuitpo Vineyards to be the majority shareholder in this blend alongside some very smart Viognier. Full, vibrant and deep inky dark colour spills from bottle to the glass almost promising excitement and flavour with punch!
Upfront aromas of Blueberry and blackberry with notes of oak spice and some appealing sweetness. The colour is a decent guide to the experience ahead with a moving feast exploding on the palate immediately followed by a never ending length and complete flood of spice and fruit richness to the mouth. A generous balance of oak and acidity here makes the components come to life as tannins are near perfect with this amount of fruit and I just know you are going to revel in your purchase with this wine. |

2008 Sydney Royal Wine Show GOLD MEDAL class 20 Adelaide Review 2007 HOT 100 + selected in the TOP 10 The Advertiser - Adelaide 2007 TOP 100 Gourmet Traveller WINE Magazine 91 pts. The past 14 vintages of ‘Bernoota’ have been awarded 9 TROPHIES, 29 GOLD MEDALS and numerous other awards.
Greg follet maximises the typical Mclaren Vale sweetness and fruit intensity in all his marvellous wines and each vintage typically explodes with fruit ripeness and seems blessed on all fronts.
His notes provide the following which I fully endorse having slipped a little bottle of this down the necks of some great friends the other night - Bernoota’ was the original name given to the homestead on the Lake Breeze property – it is an Aboriginal name for ‘camp among the gum trees’. The 2005 ‘Bernoota’ is a blend of Shiraz (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), carefully selected from old vines on the Follett family vineyard.
The wine was fermented on skins in open static fermenters for 7-10 days, followed by maturation for 20 months in American and French oak barriques. The wine shows dark fruit characters of blackberry and plums, with a hint of spice and smoky oak aromas. The palate encompasses all of the trademark Langhorne Creek fruit sweetness and soft tannins. Although extremely palatable now, it will mature gracefully with correct cellaring for the next 8-10 years. |

The Trophy winning 2005 Hugo McLaren Vale Shiraz has received the coveted Trophy for the “Best Shiraz” Open Section at the 2007 Melbourne Wine Show from classes 46 & 51. The award comes at a fitting time as the family owned and run estate is celebrating its 25th anniversary of making fine wine under the Hugo label and Boy! Following what was a ripper vintage in 2004 in SA. This sensational little number is often forgottten by most. We have sold pallets and pallets with it's volumes of rich plum, raspberry and bold black pepper with light toasty nut oak with hints of yummy choc/mocha. A rich dense palate awaits choc full of forward berry fruits supported by stylishly structured tannins present a full-bodied, well balanced wine. The use of new, one and two year old American oak assists the integration of the fruit and tannin components. Blackberry and raspberry flavours combine with an engaging spicy, pepper and chocolate éclair elements. Their tasting notes go on to recomend it be complimented with: Caper and garlic leg of lamb or Pork schnitzel with red cabbage and apple salad. I think you should enjoy the wine multiple times with friends and family and be contemplative of the good things in life less than $20- |

This is a lovely example of old vine Shiraz from a top vintage. Red to purple, nearly opaque. Intense, tarry Shiraz dominates any oak flavours – the oak only serves to amplify the fruit, and the “tarry” character is indicative of fruit from very old vines. The wide spectrum of Shiraz flavours, with some lovely high tones, distinguishes the higher altitude of the Clare Valley from other warm regions. Full palate and smooth, lasting finish. It will soften over the next 8 – 10 years, and live for many more. The wine spent 30 days on skins, then fifteen months in mainly French oak, 25% of which was new.
The vines here were reportedly planted in 1928 and I have to say this seriously undervalued good wine. Grab a cellar full and celebrate the right choice at the greatest price around! Rates a definite 94/100 and you will love showing this off! |

Halliday 5 Star winery A real surprise packet and what a big bang for your Cellar. This wine shows some excellent depth of colour with youthful purple tints & aromas of soft dark chocolate/cherry ripe characters from the McLaren Vale fruit. The background mint (Padthaway) and red cherry (Beechworth) compliment the McLaren Vale fruit, subtle oak and char edge. Rich and sweet upfront with smooth and grippy ripe tannins on the finish all confirm the use of the right blend from these 3 different regions. I enjoy looking at many wonderful wines and have found my sticky fingers plundering the pallets for this wine to take home and 'evaluate' on more than one occasion. |

Almost at once there is a big enveloping aroma of blackberry and some fragrant spices. Warm and enticing to the lips this wine simply invades the mouth and fills delightfully to show structure, tannin and elegance all at the same time. Not sure exactly due to the age in bottle but the is drinking splendidly as of right now with the balance between Shiraz and the Viognier providing and perfect mix between sweet fruit and complexity.

Made at Balnaves under the watchful eye of Peter Bissell the production here of two classic varietals afrom two premium areas has triggered a little monster. Deep red with bright purple tinge awaits the first pour!
The nose is rich and complex with layers of blackberry fruit, pepper and spice notes, and some mocha coffee elements coming from the oak.

Deep garnet red with purple hue, this wine displays hints of apricot and almond kernel on the nose, coupled with exciting and intense aromas of blackberry spice.
